Mark Galbo is a visionary in the field of music education. He turns the traditional model of music education on its head and has created a program that brims with vibrancy, engagement and relevance. Mark has tremendous respect for children and has fostered a culture of trust and authenticity at his school, which produces results far beyond simply teaching music skills. Rock and Roll Academy® students are confident, self-directed and supportive of their band mates. RRA students are willing to take risks, grow as individuals and expand themselves beyond their comfort zone. Mark’s unique teaching method has been featured in countless articles, videos and interviews.

Mark has been an educator for over twenty-seven years. He played music professionally for over two decades before meeting his wife, Jessica, and having four children, all of whom participate in the RRA. The feeling of family and community is palpable at the Rock and Roll Academy® and continues to attract children, and their parents, to it’s unique culture.

Mark has had three books published in the field of guitar instruction. One of these books, published in 1993, has sold over 60,000 copies internationally. Currently Mark is at work on a new book which chronicles his experiences learning with children and turns many of the cherished notions we have about education, and child rearing, upside-down.

Mark believes in mentors and has had many in his life. His work is influenced by the teachings of Monty Roberts, Robert Kiyosaki, Tony Robbins and John Holt. He is a firm believer that children possess genius naturally and simply need time, space, support and love to unfold their innate beauty.
